Rules and Regulation

Registration

  • Admissions are given first come first serve and are subject to seats’ availability.
  • Students must submit a copy of a valid identity card (Aadhaar, passport etc.) with proof of address at the time of admission.
  • To join the general French courses at the AFH, the minimum age requirement is as follows: 17 years for ADULT classes; 12 years for TEENS classes. Admission forms must be signed by a parent or a legal guardian in the case of minors (below 18yrs).
  • The maximum number of students in an adult class is limited to 15 students.
  • The maximum number of students in a teen class is limited to 10 students.
  • Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to postpone or to cancel a class with fewer than 5 students registered.

Classes

  • Only the person registered for the class can attend, no substitute by another person.
  • The purchase of the textbook(s) used in class is compulsory and the price of the textbook is not included in the course fee.
  • The Alliance Française Hyderabad and its management shall not be held responsible for any damages, losses or injuries during study at the said French Language and Cultural Centre.
  • Students are expected to attend classes regularly and to be punctual.
  • Students are expected to turn on the camera during the online courses.
  • Mobile phones are to be switched off or kept in silent mode during classes. Students are not allowed to answer phone calls or return messages during class hours except in emergencies.
  • Classes may be cancelled, and class time may be reduced due to unexpected contingencies. You will be informed by the course teacher or the Front Desk Officer.
  • The Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to change faculty at any point during the course due to unexpected and unavoidable circumstances.
  • Any concern regarding classes should be addressed to the Pedagogical Director in writing ([email protected]).
  • Internal tests are conducted at regular intervals during the course and a final oral and written exam is conducted at the end of the course. Students are regularly tested on four competencies: oral and written comprehension and oral and written expression. The dates of all evaluations are fixed in advance by the professors and advance intimation is given to the students. No re-test will be conducted in the case of students missing the internal tests and the final exam.
  • Courses include a significant number of online assignments on our digital learning platform “Apolearn”. Students are expected to complete the modules within the stipulated time as these are an integral part of the course curriculum and are meant to enhance the learning program.
  • Access to the digital platform Apolearn is valid from the date of commencement of a course to the end of the course.
  • During the course or at the end of the course, students will be requested to fill up an online feedback form on Google to give their feedback about their learning experience at the Alliance Française Hyderabad. Such feedback is indispensable and essential for us to improve the quality of our services.
  • At the end of the course, an attendance certificate is issued on demand only to those students who have attended at least 80% of the total duration of the course. This attestation certifies the regular participation of the student in the class session; it DOES NOT certify the language level of the student and cannot be used for this purpose.
  • This attestation may be awarded to the student within six months of his/her last class of the course. Beyond this period, the AFH can no longer issue attendance attestations.
  • As with other organizations and institutions, the AFH will remain closed on certain days (The holiday dates will be displayed in the premises of AFH) and classes will be replaced at the end of the session if 100% of the students agree.

Admission into higher levels

  • Students who wish to continue into a higher level must obtain a minimum of 50% in the final internal exams computed at the end of the course.
  • Students from other institutes and students joining after a break of more than six months are welcome to join directly into our higher levels. However, they will be strongly advised to take an assessment test before being given admission.
  • The results of the assessment test will be valid for a period of three months.

Fees

  • The tariff applicable will depend on the rates prevailing on the date of registration. GST is applicable on all Course fees and is included in the tariffs mentioned.
  • Course fees include administrative, tuition, digital platform, library fees, and GST as applicable. DELF-DALF exam registration fees are not included and will have to be paid separately during the exam registration period.
  • On payment of the full fee, the AFH will issue a receipt as proof. For online payments, please send the transaction reference to our accountant at [email protected], who can then verify and send an email acknowledgement.
  • Fees are to be paid in full, by bank transfer, cheque, PayTM, debit/credit card. Extra cheque bounced charges will be applicable on returned cheques. Fees are inclusive of GST.
  • For online payments by direct bank transfer, please refer to the protocol and conditions available on our website. Non compliance of the same will render an admission invalid.
  • Course fees are not refundable and are not transferable to a third person or to any other Alliance Française in India or the world.
  • Please note that the early bird discount is for all the levels and entitles you one week before the beginning of the class.
  • Students repeating the same level within the next 12 months are entitled to 50% [Second chance]
  • Discounted course fees cannot be refunded.
  • Discounts cannot be accumulated.

Withdrawal / Deferment / Refund

  • We have NO REFUND policy except if a class is cancelled on account of insufficient registrations or if the start date is delayed by more than three weeks and the student does not wish to maintain his/her registration. However, the student can transfer his/her registration to another batch within 3 days after the start of the session by making a payment of INR 826 (Incl. GST) with reason justified.
  • The Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to refuse such a transfer.
  • Those opting for a deferment to the next session must know the specific level may not be offered or may only be offered at a different day/time. If the new course proposed doesn’t suit the timetable of the student, he/she can ask for a refund (GST).

Replacement or transfer of the class

  • A written application requesting a transfer along with supporting documents to justify the reason for the transfer request must be submitted to the Front Office. Written requests for refunds will be only considered under the following exceptional circumstances:
      • Prolonged period of ill health certified by a doctor (dated doctor’s certificate required);
      • Posting to another city for academic or professional reasons (signed and dated letter from the organization on their letterhead required);
      • New job appointment that prevents you from attending your course (dated copy of contract required);
      • Death or onset of serious illness (prolonged hospitalization or incapacitation) of an immediate family member (spouse, parents, siblings, children – death certificate or medical certificate required).

Certificate

  • Alliance Française Hyderabad is not responsible for uncollected International examination Certificates (DELF/DALF) after 6 months.
  • AFH students receive a discount at the time of registration for the DELF DALF, DELF Junior or DELF Prim exams, if the registration is made within 6 months of completion of the course at one of the Alliances françaises in India.
  • No original certificate will be sent by courrier. However, a third person can collect it in the name of the candidate under presentation of a proxy.

Library and cultural activities

  • Access to the library is reserved for students and members of the Alliance Française Hyderabad and the library members.
  • The students who are currently taking classes at AFH, online or offline can visit and consult the resources available at the resource center, but borrowing the resources is possible by becoming a member. The students who do not wish to continue into higher levels but wish to use the library facilities may do so by taking the student membership during their classes. 
  • Students and members shall adhere to all the Rules and Regulations of the Library, failing which they may be denied access to the same.  
  • Members who do not return books on time will not be issued new books and will be denied access to library facilities or admission into higher levels until they return the same.  
  • Members must return the borrowed books or resources within due date of returning, failure to do so will result in a late return fee. 
  • Members will have to reimburse the cost of books, magazines, and comics, DVDs or CDs lost or damaged by them. In case they cannot, their reimbursable security deposit will be withheld.
  • Students and members are welcomed and encouraged to attend all our cultural events and library events, invites will be sent regarding the same.  

Alliance Française Hyderabad Management

  • The Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to reject any application.
  • Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to assign any teacher to any class.
  • Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to divide, combine, cancel or reduce hours for any classes as it deems necessary.
  • Alliance Française Hyderabad reserves the right to change the terms and conditions, as it deems necessary, without advance notification
  • Official mail, Email, Phone, WhatsApp are considered as official channels of communication between Alliance Française Hyderabad and its students. Information about the classes (Postpone, Holidays, Tasks) out of the class timing will be shared on the WhatsApp group of the class and/or by email. In the case of a minor student, it’s the parent’s responsibility to make sure they can access the phone number (and WhatsApp group of the class) and the email shared with Alliance Française Hyderabad administration. Alliance Française Hyderabad cannot be held responsible for miscommunication between a minor student and his/her parents.
  • We reserve the right to expel students or spectators (without any refund) who intentionally damage or steal our property, who are disruptive or who adopt an inappropriate behavior during any course or towards any participant or staff member.
