Pianist, composer, arranger and musical director, Christophe Chassol discovered
music at the age of four. Impressed by the soundtrack of the film «The
Towering Inferno» and after sixteen years of studies at the Conservatory, his
ambition from the very start was to compose for films, unite sounds and images
to produce music of great elegance, in the tradition of Jerry Goldsmith Michel,
Magne and Quincy Jones.
In the mid-90s, he began composing for the big screen, television and advertising.
From 1994 to 2002, he became a conductor and then discovered the
world of pop music after accompanying artists such as Phoenix and Sébastien Tellier.
Today, Chassol is the author of an unclassifiable oeuvre. His compositions articulate voice, music, sounds and images in a very innovative way, with the concept of ‘harmonizing of the real’ at the heart of his approach.
Chassol’s new show: INDIAMORE was presented in India for the first time as a part of the Bonjour India 2013 Festival. Improvising piano harmonies on the images of a film shot in Kolkata and Varanasi in July 2012, Chassol pays a breathtaking tribute to the unrevealed melodies of India. The performance met with tremendous success in India, and was then performed in Paris and New York. In 2014 the French Embassy / Institut français & Alliance Française in India brings Chassol back to the sub-continent for a great 10-city tour.
