Agnès Desarthe has written novels for adults as well as books for kids. She will participate in the Hay Festival in Trivandrum from 18 to 20 November 2011, and will come to Hyderabad on 11th and 12thNovember. She will be touring only these two cities in India.
She studied and taught English literature at the highest level, and wrote about 30 books for youngsters, 8 novels, and a book about Virginia Woolf. She is also the French translator of Loïs Lowry, Anne Fine, Cynthia Ozick, Jay McInerney and Virginia Woolf.
She won the “Prix du Livre Inter” in 1996 for her novel Un secret sans importance, the “Prix Marcel Pagnol” and “Virgin/version Fémina” for Le remplaçant (published in 2009), and recentrly, the “Prix Renaudot des Lycéens” for her latest novel published by Éditions de l’Olivier, titled Dans la nuit brune. Her novel Mangez-moi(2006), Chez moi in the English translation (2008), has been translated in more than fifteen languages.
