Prepare to time travel with a ‘Trip To France’ in the ’70s, right here in Hyderabad with #BonjourIndia , through the lens of Prof. Parmanand Dalwadi and discover the influence of legendary French photo-journalist Cartier-Bresson on his art.
This exhibition focuses on Dalwadi’s journey to France in the 70s tracing, in 50 photos, his journey to France captured with his Nikon F . He captured incongruous and unusual situations combining humor and tenderness. Each photo is accompanied by a short story and Dalwadi’s observations of the erstwhile French society.
Prof. Parmanand Dalwadi, born in a craftsman family in Gujarat, graduated in Fine Arts from M.S.U. Baroda in 1963 and obtained his post graduation in Visual Communication from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad in 1968.
He accompanied world renowned photo-journalist, Henri Cartier-Bresson, on his journey of North India in 1965. In return, Cartier-Bresson placed him in pictorial services, Paris to work with the legendary Pierre Gassmann with funding from the Ford Foundation.
Prof. Dalwadi met his wife Radium in France and she can be seen in a few of his stills.
He was the President of Alliance Française d’Ahmedabad for a period of 6 years.
