“One day, I was stretched out on a granite rock, the external universe faded like an illusion, and I began plunging into an internal reality. There, connections were made in the interstices of images and sounds, from one era to another, from one age to another, from one space to the next…” – Beatrice de Fays.

Alliance Française of Hyderabad and the French Institute in India present A Woman in the Dance-City by Béatrice de Fays. This interesting art and digital experience, a confluence of painting and Augmented Reality, is part of <de>confine 2021, the South Asian Digital Art Festival. It concludes the Novembre Numérique festival organised by Alliance Française of Ahmedabad, and Institut Français in Paris and India.

“‘A Woman in the Dance-City’ is a unique digital art show by artist Béatrice de Fays with Hyderabad and the Deccan as its epicenter. It enlarges and renews the spectators’ experience with the art, opening many avenues for the future of visual arts.” – Dr. Samuel Berthet, Director, Alliance Française of Hyderabad.

The 12 paintings in this exhibition unfold the story of a woman’s experiences in the city of Hyderabad. A poetic dream inspired by the granite rocks on the Deccan Plateau, each painting comes alive with Augmented Reality Animation through the app in.space available both on Android and iPhone.

In this series, a woman (or even a man or a child) meets 12 entities, spaces and energies: the Buddha of the rocks, the dragonfly, the tree, the source, the rest, the dance…

By moving around the works with a mobile device, the visitor discovers the spatial, narrative and sound dimensions.

The exhibition will be held at Park Hyatt, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad from the 30th of November to the 13 of December 2021, inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, Principal Secretary, GoTS and Guest of Honour, Ms. Rama Lakshmi, MD, KL Hi-Tech.

“Park Hyatt hotels across the globe are home to some of the world’s finest art, featuring unique events for both guests and locals to enjoy. The Art Walk at the Park Hyatt Hyderabad is a series of events in appreciation of art masters, unique artwork and their untold stories. We at Park Hyatt Hyderabad are delighted to engage in this artistic journey in collaboration with Alliance Francaise and Scan 60 for the exhibition by Béatrice de Fays again this year. The hotel already features Beatrice’s contemporary art collection across our guest areas.” – Shobhit Sawhney, General Manager, Park Hyatt Hyderabad.

About the artist:

BEATRICE DE FAYS – B2FAYS

 www.b2fays.com

Béatrice de Fays, aka B2Fays, is a French-Belgian artist. She develops her creations using diverse media: paintings, illustration, video projections, local or network interactive installations, augmented reality.

Her creation, between pictorial universe and digital space, questions the tipping point between concrete space and poetic experience.

In 1984, she started out on her own in graphic design, comics and the use of graphic palettes in Paris.  Around 1987, she left these tools to dedicate herself to painting.

In 1994, all her paintings were destroyed in a fire. She decided then, to integrate the memories of her paintings in a digital space, and used new technologies in order to invite the visitor to enter into the process of creation. In her own words, “The pictorial expression is impregnated with actions and reactions of the men who leave their trace on both spatial and temporal environment, a trace that in its turn, leaves its mark on them. That’s the creative chain I offer through my pictorial and interactive works.”

In 2006, B2Fays was the winner of the programme “Villa Médicis Hors les Murs” in India. Since then, she has been living between India and Europe, where she creates paintings connected to the interactive multimedia installations (local or in network),  or augmented reality.

She has several exhibitions across the world to her credit, and her paintings are part of several collections of Contemporary Art (Novotel

Vijayawada,Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Hyderabad, Park Hyatt Hyderabad and Private Collections.
