About Decoupage
Decoupage is an art technique that involves decorating objects by cutting out images from paper, fabric, or other thin materials and gluing them onto a surface. The layered designs are then sealed with varnish or lacquer to create a smooth, durable finish. Commonly used on items like furniture, boxes, and home décor, decoupage allows simple materials to be transformed into decorative, personalized pieces.
Decouage art is well appreciated for its personalisation of objects by cutting the images from paper, tissue or other fine materials, and then sticking on a surface. The motifs thus placed are protected by applying varnish to obtain shine and also to make it durable. Presently, used on furniture, boxes and on decorative objects, decoupage allows us to transform plain objects into personalised and creative decorative objects.
Decoupage is a decorative art technique that dates back to the 17th century. It involves carefully cutting out images, patterns, or illustrations from paper, decorative napkins, thin fabric, or printed materials, and then gluing them onto various surfaces such as wood, glass, metal, ceramic, cardboard.
After the elements are glued in place, several layers of varnish, special adhesive, or lacquer are applied to protect the design and give it a uniform finish, which may be glossy or matte. This layering creates the illusion that the motifs are an integral part of the object.
