HYBRIDE, at the heart of creation

by Céline Pradeu-Kanagasabai, dancer & choreographer,

This coming together of dance and talk takes the audience to the very center of the Hybride choreographic creation. It unveils the meandering experiences and contemplations of a dancer/researcher in search of a unique discourse emanating from two different schools: Contemporary dance and Bharata-natyam. It takes the spectator into the choreographer Céline Pradeu-Kanagasabai’s creative laboratory, offering glimpses along the way of costumes and sets, sounds and music and presenting choreographic insights that punctuate the creation. The dance-talk structures a journey of discovery and helps to delve deep into the universe of the hybrid solo.

Céline Pradeu-Kanagasabai – about her dance

I laid down the foundations of a choreographic expression on the theme of Identity. Listening all the time to my inner voice, I let myself dance, sometimes influenced by the French, and at other times by Indian dance.

With the solo hybride, I create a dance weaving together my two main influences. This dance metamorphoses into a distinctive style as a result of the hybrid technique emerging from the contemporary dance and Bharata-Natyam. This style becomes the language of a creature in search of experience who, during a stormy introspection, brings to the fore not just various facets of influences, lying dormant in her: French and Indian cultures, but also her passionate relationship with music, her sentiments of tortuous love, her womanhood, the experience of child bearing.
