Bénédicte Manier is a journalist at Agence France-Presse (AFP) since 1985, and has covered social, population and development issues – with a particular focus on poverty, migrations, women’s rights, child labour – as well as NGO’s involvement in local development, social alternatives, micro-credit and fair trade, consumerism and corporate social responsability.
She is here in Hyderabad on 10th February and we have taken this opportunity to organise a talk with her on women’s rights in France. She has written many books including Le travail des enfants dans le monde ( Child Labour in the World) 1999, Quand les femmes auront disparu. L’élimination des filles en Inde et en Asie (When Women Disappear. The Elimination of Girls in India and Asia) 2006.
Bénédicte Manier was awarded the French National Order of Mérite in 2002.
