“Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind”

IN MY STYLE OR LANGUAGE, I HAVE BEEN ALWAYS IN SEARCH OF A FACE BEHIND THE CONCEALER. SOMETIMES THESE FACES ARE WATCHING OR SAYING SOMETHING, WHICH IS FASCINATING. OFTEN THE FACES ARE SHOWN WHICH LACKS CERTAIN FEARURES, PROMINENTLY EYES; AND ALSO MOUTH IN SOME. MY THEME IN THE PRESENT CONTEXT IS FOCUSSED ON AESTHETICS. I HAVE USED THE DECORATIVE FORMS AS CONCEALER……

I think making of an art is a long and complex process . Its creation covers various aspects that were in cognition, but we cannot define the art in a single line. Art is my destiny since childhood. Dispositions gives me happiness, many of the incentives that may be immediate or in long time. While creating an art since long time, I am working on cognisant concepts in art, from beginning of primary conceptual analog composition ,different color schemes keep on coming in my mind which inspires me to work with differently. Before the creation whatever we think essentially does not reflect in our paintings, rather it works as base to put colors on the canvas. I prefer to add special effects to my paintings. Painting is desire to live.

“Women tend to make their emotions perform the functions they exist to serve, and hence remain much healthier than men.” – Ashley Montagu

“ In these new paintings, Samarsingh Thakur has given expression to the multifaceted world of the contemporary Indian woman her marvelous creativity, festive spirit and her unique energy to fight in the space of formidable adversities in a novel and hypnotizing art-language. There appears a deep self-confidence in his forms and colours. There is also an imaginativeness and abundant skill in his compositions.

Samarsingh Thakur’s female figures with elongated necks could remind you of the great Italian-Jewish mastrer Modigliani, known for his elongated female necks. But Samarsingh himself derives no inspiration from Modigliani. His imagination has been fired by the famous bust of the long-necked queen Nefertiti of ancient Egypt, housed in the Berlin Museum. But this artist has chosen the struggle, the psyche ,the mystique and the joyous nature of common Indian women as the subjects of his pictures.

Needless to say that there is grief , sorrow and darkness too in the lives of these women. But there is also a kind of spark and fire in them. One of the ironies of modern life is that we always try to hide our real visage. It is as if we wish to apply a kind of cosmetic concealer on our face. Sometimes we even fail to know whether we wish to apply the concealer to hide something or to reveal something.

Art becomes significant only when it presents even its simple statement in complex and mysterious style. Its message should not be obvious and superficial. It is to be noted that even ornateness has been used in a consummate manner in Samarsingh’s art-language. Festivities and days of rites and rituals also occupy a central stage in the life of modern Indian woman. The richly vibrant world of colours always attracts and moves her. A major basis of the triumph of the language of Samarsingh’s art is that he looks at the world of woman in its totality. She is not a prisoner to a glamorous and fashionable existence. Nor is she trapped behind a variety of concealers. She desires to get to know the nectar, the forms and fragrances of life. She is not wanton, but she is liberated in the real sense of the term. “
