The 17th edition of the European Union Film Festival is back, bringing “Europe in Love” to the Indian audiences. Screening films from as many as 25 EU countries, the festival starts in Hyderabad on the 10th May and will end the 20th May. Screening will be held at Prasads Imax for the inauguration, Prasad Film Lab Preview Theatre (rd. no. 3 Banjara Hills), Alliance Française of Hyderabad (rd. no. 3 Banjara Hills) & Goethe Zentrum of Hyderabad.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of the European Union, H.E. Dr João Cravinho said, “I am very happy to present the 17th EU Film Festival to the Indian audiences. This is the strongest representation we have ever had in this festival. I think it truly reflects the European Union – 25 nations joining hands to speak in one voice but preserving their cultural identities and respecting one another.”
Themed on “Europe in Love” and narrating engaging stories about Europe, the festival will offer the viewers a heady cocktail of cultural diversity that Europe is known for. This year’s selection of films, 12 of which have been awarded domestically and/or internationally, is bound together by one central thread, telling different stories about Europe and its countries, languages and histories.
“Viewers will find that many of these films involve more than one country, which is the reality of modern lives all over the world. I believe that Indian film buffs as well as those wishing to learn more about Europe will find the EUFF2012 a rewarding experience,” adds the Ambassador of the European Union.
The EU Film Festival is organised by the Delegation of the European Union and the Embassies of the EU Member States in India, in collaboration with a number of partners: Alliance Francaise, British Council, Goethe Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, Federation of Film Societies of India, Suchitra Film Society and Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, Indo-Cine Appreciation Foundation, Cine Central Calcutta, Entertainment Society of Goa, etc.
